Hey everybody, I’m Max! I am almost 6 years old and I love you and you and you! I love everybody including other dogs, kids and house guests.
My favorite thing to do is snuggle with my foster parents on the couch (see the picture below -- I can fit anywhere!) or lie close to my foster sister and give her kisses. My foster parents let me up on the furniture but when company is over, I will stay off when told.
I love mornings because that means I get to eat! I will follow my foster mom around while she gets my breakfast ready, sometimes even dancing around and "rooing" (that makes her smile). I always sit before she sets the food down because that is good manners.
Do you know what comes after breakfast? Playtime outside! I love to run around our fenced in yard and have so much fun finding birds in the trees and then barking. It is fun showing mom what cool stuff I find! Plus if the birds see me, maybe they’ll want to play? If I carry on for too long, mom will call for me and I will run to her with my goofy grin! She loves that about me too.
I used to live in Texas, but I could not live with my original family after they lost their house because of a fire. So now I am in Oklahoma. I would really like my forever family to find me, especially if they have another dog that I could be best friends with and a yard that I could run around in! If I could go places with them, that would be even better!
From Max’s foster mom:
Max is a fantastic dog. He has been with us for 11 months and is neutered, up to date on his shots, recently had his teeth cleaned, potty trained and crate trained. He has done so well that he has just earned roaming privileges. He is left out for four hours at a time, since I come home for lunch. So far he has done great; just sleeps on our bed.
Max has come a long way from the shy, unsure dog that we met many months ago. He had some ear problems before coming to A&B that left his ears looking a little funny and left him apprehensive about people touching them. We worked hard on that and he is doing so much better now. He even let my nephews pet his ears when they visited recently. He loves his foster sisters and will even groom them/give kisses. He loves to snuggle and will easily curl up into a small ball just to get closer to you. He is almost so laid back when inside that he does not want to learn tricks. I think he knows he has us wrapped around his paw. Max rides well in the car, loves to go for walks, but pulls a little on leash (so we use a harness).
If you can’t tell, we love him dearly and are very proud of him and how he has blossomed. We feel Max will do very well in a house with other dogs to play with and/or a fairly active adopter. He does need a fully fenced in yard.
