Hi, they call me Jake.  I'm a gorgeous tricolor boy of about six
years old.  I am a little overweight, but I am on a diet and
exercising regularly.  I am healthy, up to date on shots, neutered
and completely housebroken.

A long time ago I lived with a family until they brought a puppy
home.  I was then banished to an outside run to live out my life
alone, day and night.  I was very sad and lonely.  Then one day, I
guess even feeding me became too much trouble, and my family
packed my bag and sent me to Above and Beyond.
I was adopted and started a new life with another family.  They
took me for mile long walks and gave me the love that I craved.  I
went to obedience classes, where I learned to sit, lay down, high
five and go to my bed when told.  Even though I was a good boy, one day I saw my mom packing all
my stuff in a bag again;  my half-eaten old rawhide, some food, my stuffed duck and my raincoat.  I
thought we were going on a trip together.  Instead, I was sent off by myself with many strangers who
drove me far away from everything I knew.
Just as I was getting so tired from my trip, another stranger
took me to her house.  She told me she was my foster mom
and not to worry.  I slowly met her four other dogs and a few
cats too.
At first my foster mom was nervous when I kept looking for
the cats, especially the one that kept hiding from me.  I really
just wanted to meet them all.  I like cats just fine.

With the other dogs, I was defensive and testy at first.  I
used to live as an only dog.  I didn't feel much like eating
either.  I kept looking at the car and down the driveway,
waiting for my mom to come get me.  I really thought I had
been a good boy.

Several weeks have now past, and I am enjoying this new
place, the other dogs, the cats, my long walks and my car
rides.  My appetite is back and I even talk and dance while
waiting for my food.  I have made a good friend, and I have
started running around the yard with joy with Magoo, my foster brother.  When I am called to come in, I
run as fast as I can to see my foster mom.  My very favorite thing is to follow my foster mom everywhere
she goes.  She says I am her "velcro boy" and cannot imagine why anyone would give up such a sweet
and obedient boy.
When taking food, I am the most gentle boy.  I
have no food aggression with people, other
dogs or even cats.  My foster mom told me to
drop a nice meaty soup bone, and I obliged.
When walking on leash, I am strong for the first
half hour, but then I slow down.  I just really love
my walks.
I do have a few small quirks though.  Until I trust you, I don't like my feet messed with.  When
someone is stepping over me too closely, I get up and move.  I don't want to be stepped on,
especially, not my feet.  For this reason only, I would not like to live with small children.  There are
none here, but it would probably make me nervous to live with them.  When we are out and about,
I am friendly with everyone.
One day I wanted to come inside, so I just jumped up
on the lever handle and opened the door.  I walked
right in to a very surprised and laughing foster mom.  I
have a few tricks up my sleeve for a middle-aged guy.

I have so many great qualities and so much love to give,
that I really need to find my forever home.  I bond very
fast and strongly to one person, but I am great with
everyone else too.  Please adopt me, only if it is forever
this time.  If I see my bag being packed again, I think
my heart will break......
PA Jake
