Dr. Seuss

The sun shone on Seuss
When a friend picked him up.
He'd been hit by a car.
What horrible luck!

The kind friend took this setter
To a temporary home.
Now Dr. Seuss is looking
For a permanent one.

This 6-year-old pup
Is learning to sit, stay and heel.
And he likes to be brushed,
So let's make a deal.

He's been through enough. He's done being a fighter.
We made triple-dog sure he's not also a biter!
He likes to cuddle with people and gnaw on a bone
He no longer wants to be all alone.

He needs a family, so let's no longer dicker,
And a few trips to the vet to check on his ticker
Are you his great hope, the one from his dreams?

A wonderful, low-key boy, Dr. Seuss gets along with
everyone! He is gentle and tolerant of almost
anything, but if he does get annoyed, he walks away
from the situation. His favorite things are being
brushed, being touched, cuddling up, chomping on
ice cubes and receiving other treats. He is
housebroken, loves the couch, a crate, the car, and
his foster mom's bed. He has become more playful
with other dogs, too (see video!)!

A fenced-in yard is required for adoption, but Seuss
prefers to be leash-walked for exercise. Dr. Suess is
an ideal dog for apartment living. He is quiet and
laid-back; he has some anxiety outside in open-areas
(including fenced-in yards), so he will bolt-and-run.
He also has anxiety in storms. He will do best with the
companionship of another dog(s) to play with. After
initial sniffing/introductions, he is indifferent to cats.
Due to a diagnosis of degenerative valve disease, Dr.
Seuss will need occasional follow-up visits with his
veterinarian and may possibly need medication in the
future.

Seuss is a 7-ish year old male English Setter, weighing
51 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on his
vaccinations and on is heartworm preventative.  Now
all he needs is a family of his own to love.
