Chloe

The sun's on my face, wind's in my feathers and the
scent of birds is wafting gently over my nose....
ahhhhhh.  I am a happy girl.  Life is good.  And I've
got to tell you if feels wonderful to be able to say
that.   My foster mom feeds me twice every day.
Isn't that lovely?  I get to spend time curled up on a
nice soft dog bed napping, my fur warmed by the
afternoon sun.  Isn't that glorious?  And every day,
I am touched and caressed with soft and loving
hands.  Isn't that beautiful?  Well, it is to me.  And I
cherish every moment.

Meet Chloe.  Chloe of the huge, chocolate brown
eyes and the unbreakable spirit.

This orange belton girl will grab hold of your heart
and won't let go.  She was found abandoned along
with two other setters in North Texas ranch
country.  It was obvious that she'd been neglected
and was very underweight, but of greater concern
was how "shut down" she appeared.  Chloe
wouldn't look at anyone and spent most of her time
curled into a tight ball in the corner of her crate.
She then had to undergo surgery to be spayed and
have two benign growths removed from her ears.
She also was treated for heartworms.

Well, you have only to look at her pictures and
videos to see how far Chloe has come already.  She's
settling into her foster home.  She has regained her
health and her spirit is once again shining in those
big brown eyes.  Chloe has finished resting following
her heartworm treatment and is ready to go to her
forever home.

While in foster care, Chloe is coming out of her shell.
She adores spending time snuggled with her foster
mom and will give gentle kisses.  She is comfortable
with the other Setter siblings in the home.  She is
very happy to spend time outside with her nose in
the air and search the skies for birds.  Chloe is
definitely a BIRDY girl!  On a recent walk to a nearby
lake the sun was casting shadows and Chloe kept
pouncing on the bird shadows moving across the
grass in front of her.  Then, on the way home she
thought it was great fun to pounce upon her own
shadow!

She's put on weight and this approximately 6 year
old girl is a healthy 42 pounds now.  Her fur is very
soft and she has an easy care coat which will
continue to improve with a healthy diet.  She has
that lovely, silky soft, field setter coat.

Overall, Chloe is a quiet girl and she has nice house
manners.  She has proved to be house-trained.  She
walks well on a lead, just pulling some when she
sees a squirrel along the way.  When inside she's
perfectly content to find a nice warm spot to nap.

She may have been treated harshly in the past
because sometime she acts a little uncertain of an
outstretched hand and she is still a bit shy when
meeting new people.  She’s learning that people are
kind and hands will touch her gently.

Chloe is a beautiful girl and such an amazing
example of a setter's ability to forgive.  She clearly
has so much love to give and deserves a home
where she can continue to discover and cherish all
the glorious things life has to offer.

Here are a few short videos of Chloe just enjoying
the outdoors while she was on restricted activity.
